Welland Fire & Emergency Service has 48 Firefighters assigned to the Fire Suppression Division. For recruitment purposes, an active list of eligible candidates is maintained by the Welland Fire & Emergency Services.

Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment

A firefighting force of volunteer firefighters assists the career firefighter with fire suppression activities when required. The Volunteers operate pumpers from fire stations located on Rose Avenue and Schisler Road.

The Department endeavors to maintain a force of at least 62 volunteers. The actual number fluctuates depending upon attrition and recruitment.

Recruitment processes are initiated whenever required to maintain sufficient numbers. Applications for the most recent recruitment process closed on December 23, 2008. Full information on the next recruitment will be posted on this website.
